← Back to TypocalypseTERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated: 2026-05-20
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Typocalypse ("the service", "we", "us"), operated by Typocalypse. By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you. Users in the EU/EEA aged 13-15 require parental consent for processing of their personal data under GDPR Article 8; if you fall into that group, please obtain that consent (or have a parent / guardian sign up on your behalf) before using the service.
2. Your account
- You sign in via Discord or Google. Keep that account secure - anyone with access to it can access your Typocalypse account.
- One person, one account. Don't create accounts to evade bans, automate gameplay, or impersonate someone else.
- Your username must not be obscene, infringing, or impersonate another person or brand. We may reset usernames that violate these rules.
- You're responsible for the activity that happens on your account.
3. Acceptable use
While using Typocalypse, don't:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other players.
- Use cheats, bots, scripts, or third-party tools to gain an unfair advantage. (We provide an in-game bot system; that's fine. Outside automation is not.)
- Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities. If you find one, report it to us.
- Attempt to disrupt the service (DoS attacks, scraping at unreasonable rates, reverse-engineering for malicious purposes).
- Upload or transmit illegal, infringing, malicious, or unsolicited content via chat or any other channel.
- Use the service in a way that violates applicable law.
4. User content
"User content" means anything you submit to the service - including chat messages, usernames, custom avatars, and the full contents of community modes (text entries, images, audio, video, GIFs, tags, descriptions, and any other media you upload).
- Ownership stays with you. By submitting user content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, transcode, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate and improve the service, and to make community modes playable by other users. The licence ends when you delete the content from the service, except for backups and operational copies retained for a reasonable wind-down period.
- You confirm you have the right to submit it. You must own, or have a valid licence to, every image, audio clip, video clip, and other media you upload. Don't upload anything you haven't cleared - copyrighted music, films, screenshots from other people's work, photos of people who haven't consented, etc.
- We may moderate. We can review, refuse to publish, edit, or remove user content for any reason - including copyright complaints, harassment, illegal material, broken uploads, or operational concerns - with or without notice and without owing you a refund of anything you paid to create or host that content.
- Community modes are public by default. When you publish a mode, other users can play it, rate it, and have its contents transcoded and served to their devices. Don't publish anything you'd be embarrassed to attach your name to.
5. Our intellectual property
The service itself - code, design, branding, art, audio, game mechanics - is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission, except as expressly allowed by law.
6. Copyright takedowns
If you believe content uploaded to Typocalypse infringes a copyright you own or control, send a notice to admin@typocalypse.fun with subject line "COPYRIGHT TAKEDOWN" containing:
- Your name, address, and contact email.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say is being infringed.
- The exact location of the infringing material on Typocalypse (mode ID, URL, or screenshot).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury (or equivalent under your jurisdiction), that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will review valid notices promptly and may remove or disable access to the content pending resolution. If you believe content of yours was removed in error, you can send a counter-notice to the same address; we'll forward it to the original complainant and may restore the content after the response window has elapsed. Repeat infringers may have their accounts permanently terminated.
7. Beta status
Typocalypse is currently in beta. Features may change, break, or disappear without notice. Game progress (XP, wins, recent matches, leaderboards, custom modes, friend graphs) may be reset during major changes. Paid purchases - Pro subscriptions, gem-pack purchases, and cosmetics acquired with gems - are protected from beta resets and will be preserved across resets in equivalent form. Coins earned in-game (and cosmetics purchased with coins) are part of game progress and may be reset; we'll generally try to avoid this and to give notice if a reset is planned.
8. Payments, refunds, and chargebacks
Typocalypse Pro and in-game purchases (including gem packs and cosmetic items) are processed by Stripe. By making a purchase, you authorise us and Stripe to charge the payment method you provide.
- All purchases are final once completed. We do not refund completed purchases on a "changed my mind" basis. You can cancel a Pro subscription at any time from the billing portal to stop future renewals; your access continues until the end of the current billing period and no further charges are made.
- Unauthorised payments are the exception. If a charge on a payment method was not made by, or with the permission of, the cardholder - the most common case being a child using a parent's card without consent - email admin@typocalypse.fun from the account email. Tell us which charge and the reason it was unauthorised. We will refund it through Stripe within a few business days.
- Renewals that go through after you've cancelled are also refundable. If you tried to cancel a Pro subscription and a renewal charge still processed afterwards, email admin@typocalypse.fun from the account email. We'll cross-check the timing against Stripe and return the charge within a few business days.
- Do not initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer without contacting us first. A chargeback (also called a "payment dispute" or "fraud claim") is when you go to your card company to reverse a charge instead of asking us. For unauthorised payments we resolve the issue directly and quickly - going to your bank first bypasses a process that was specifically built for that situation.
- Initiating a chargeback against Typocalypse will result in the immediate permanent deletion of your account and a permanent ban from the service. This applies whether the chargeback is upheld or reversed, and whether you create a new account afterwards (ban evasion is itself a Terms violation - see §3). Any cosmetics, gems, coins, Pro status, custom modes, friend lists, stats, and any other content tied to the account will be lost.
- We may, at our discretion, decline future service to any person previously banned for a chargeback, including via new email addresses or payment methods.
- Unauthorised use by a household member is not "fraud" for the purpose of this section. If a child, partner, roommate, or anyone else with access to your card or device used it to make a purchase without your permission, that is covered by the unauthorised-payment refund process above (email us first). It is not grounds for going straight to a chargeback. The cosmetics/Pro/gem purchase made on your card still leaves the account holding what was bought - we need the email to refund it cleanly and reverse the account state.
- Genuine third-party fraud - your card was stolen, your account was hacked by a stranger, or a payment method was used by someone who never had legitimate access to it - is the only situation in which a chargeback without contacting us first will not trigger an account ban under this section. Even then, contacting us first lets us reverse the account state, freeze the compromised session, and resolve the dispute faster than the bank can.
- None of this overrides any non-waivable statutory rights you have under the law of your country of residence. Where local law gives you a protected right to dispute a specific charge that this section would otherwise penalise, that right prevails - but only to the extent the law requires, and not as a general route around the policy.
- EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you would normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-services purchase under Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive / Regulation 37 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. At checkout, we ask you to confirm that you consent to immediate delivery of the purchased content and that you waive that 14-day right. Once you tick the consent box and complete payment, delivery begins immediately and the 14-day withdrawal right no longer applies. The unauthorised-payment and cancelled-but-renewed refund paths above still apply, as do any other non-waivable statutory rights.
9. Virtual currency and cosmetics
- Coins are an in-game currency earned by playing Typocalypse. Gems are an in-game currency purchased with real money via Stripe and granted as a stipend on Pro renewals. Both are used to unlock cosmetic items in the shop.
- Neither coins nor gems have any real-world monetary value. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between accounts, sold, gifted to other users, or redeemed for anything outside the service. They are a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use a feature inside Typocalypse, not property.
- Cosmetics work the same way. When you "own" a cosmetic, you have a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to display it on your account inside Typocalypse for as long as the service operates. You don't acquire ownership of the underlying art, design, code, or trademark in the cosmetic.
- We may adjust the economy. Coin earn rates, gem prices, cosmetic prices, gem-pack contents, the catalog of available cosmetics, the Pro stipend, and Pro perks may change at any time. We may add, remove, or rebalance items; promote or demote rarities; or retire features. We won't retroactively charge you for changes - anything you've already paid for stays in your inventory subject to the preservation rules in §7.
- Account closure forfeits your balance. If your account is terminated under §11 - whether by you, by us for cause, or under the chargeback policy in §8 - any unspent coins, unspent gems, and unequipped or equipped cosmetics are forfeit. We don't refund the cash value of unspent gems on closure.
- If the service shuts down, we will give reasonable notice and will not be obligated to refund unspent in-game currency or the cash value of cosmetic purchases beyond what's required by applicable consumer law.
10. Privacy and your data
Our Privacy Policy describes what personal data we collect (account email, OAuth identifiers, IP-derived country, presence and gameplay metadata, payment metadata held by Stripe), how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we retain it. By using the service you consent to that processing.
You may request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and the associated data - email admin@typocalypse.fun from the account email. Deletion requests are honoured within 30 days; some records (payment history needed for tax/ accounting, abuse-prevention logs) may be retained for the period required by law. Account deletion forfeits your balance and cosmetics as described in §9.
11. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time and may request account deletion under §10. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or to protect the service or other users. We'll generally try to give notice unless doing so would defeat the purpose (e.g. an active abuse incident, or the chargeback policy in §8 where the trigger is unambiguous).
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties - express, implied, statutory, or otherwise - including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Typocalypse, its officers, employees, or partners be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the service.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date counts as acceptance.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales, except where local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
17. Contact
Email: admin@typocalypse.fun - best for anything private (refund requests, account deletion, payment disputes, copyright takedowns).
For non-private questions, bug reports, or general support, the #support channel in the Typocalypse Discord is usually the fastest way to get an answer - from us or from other players.
