WHAT IS TYPOCALYPSE?

Typocalypse is a free multiplayer typing game played in rounds: a prompt appears, the countdown starts, and you type for your life. Beat the clock or lose a heart - the last typist standing takes the win.

Play the official modes below, or browse community-made modes - song lyrics, capital cities, spelling drills, whatever players publish - and build your own in the mode editor. Every game counts towards the global leaderboard, solo or with friends in the same lobby.

FAQ

Is Typocalypse free to play?

Yes - Typocalypse is a completely free typing game with no download and no install. Open the site, hit PLAY, and you're in a lobby.

Can I play with friends?

That's the whole point. Host a lobby and share the invite link or lobby code - up to 16 players type it out in the same round. You can also jump into anyone's public lobby from the browser, or add bots when you're short on humans.

Do I need an account?

No - you can play forever without one. Signing up (it's free) keeps your stats, coins, cosmetics and leaderboard spot attached to a name instead of a browser.

Will it improve my typing speed?

Racing a countdown against other people is intense typing practice: every round pushes your speed and accuracy under pressure, and the difficulty ramps as you survive. The leaderboard gives you something to climb while you improve.

What kinds of typing games are there?

Five official modes - trigger words, spelling, unscramble, mathematics and sequences - plus an endless supply of community-made modes: song lyrics, flags, capital cities, whatever players publish.

Can I make my own typing mode?

Yes - the mode editor lets you build a mode from any list of prompts and answers, including image prompts, then publish it for everyone. Your mode gets its own page, ratings and play count.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

It runs in any modern browser, touch keyboards included - but like any typing game it shines with a physical keyboard, so desktop is the sweat setup.

How does a round actually work?

Everyone sits in a ring. A prompt appears, one player is on the clock, and they must type a valid answer before the countdown hits zero - fail and a heart is gone. Turns rotate, difficulty climbs, and the last typist standing takes the win.

Is Typocalypse a typing battle royale?

Pretty much - everyone starts with hearts, one player answers each prompt against the clock, and a miss costs a heart. Run out of hearts and you're eliminated. The last typist standing wins the round, same elimination format as a battle royale, just with words instead of weapons.
